Facts about CABINN

CABINN Hotels is a danish budget hotelchain with 8 hotels located in Copenhagen, Odense, Aarhus, Esbjerg and Aalborg.

CABINN have totally 2124 rooms with more than 3100 beds.

CABINN's motto is: Sleep Cheap in Luxury. This is what it's all about. CABINN's business-strategi is to offer high quality hotel rooms at central locations in Denmarks largest cities.

In 2008 more than 200.000 persons stayed at a CABINN hotel. This number is growing.

CABINN is a member of Association of the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Industry in Denmark HORESTA. As a part of the membership of HORESTA, CABINN has signed collective agreements with the major trade unions in Denmark, 3F and HK. All labour are employed according to the collective agreements which determines and regulates wages, pensions and working hours.

Inspiration from cabins on cruise liners.

The founder of the CABINN concept is engineer Niels Fennet. He got the idea when he was crouising with his family on the ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo. Niels Fennet found that the cabins on board was a nice and comfortable way to sleep, and if he could transfer the concept to the ground he could create a budget hotel with many rooms on a relative small site on central city-locations.

The central location is a key issue, because normaly the best locations in the large cities are very expensive, but the combination of CABINN's smart rooms and a rationel management gives CABINN the posibility to offer high quality accommodation to very low rates.

The timeline

The first CABINN hotel, CABINN Express opened in 1990 on Frederiksberg in Copenhagen. The hotel soon became a success and in 1993 the second hotel CABINN Scandinavia at Frederiksberg opened.

In 1994 hotel CABINN Esbjerg opened with 82 rooms. The number of rooms on Hotel CABINN Esbjerg is increased several times since. After a major rebuild i 2005 the number of rooms now count 150. Hotel CABINN Esbjerg is now Esbjergs largest.

In 2002 CABINN opened a hotel in Denmarks second largest city, Aarhus. The hotels have 192 rooms and is situated on one of the most prominent locations in the city at the central square Store Torv down to the creek. The hotel is Aarhus' second largest.

In the spring 2004 CABINN opened it's third hotel in Copenhagen, Hotel CABINN City - . The hotel has 350 rooms and is located just behind Tivoli Gardens in the central part of Copenhagen.

In November 2007 CABINN Odense opened with 201 rooms. The hotel in Odense is located in the heart of Odense near the railway station and within 5 minuts walk from the famous H.C. Andersen's house. From the breakfastcafé on the eight floor there is a perfect view of the skyline over Odense and the rest of Fyn.

2007 was also the year when CABINN started to build hotel CABINN Metro in Orestaden near Copenhagen. The hotel is fully opened in October 2009. CABINN Metro is Denmark's largest hotel with 709 rooms. The hotels outside architecture is created by the famous Polish/American architect Daniel Libeskind who also is the architect on the new project on "Ground Zero" in New York.

Also in October 2009 CABINN opened a new hotel in Aalborg with 239 rooms. The hotel CABINN Aalborg is located very central in Aalborg only short distance to the habour and city center
